From Mitt Romney’s run at the White House, to competing on American Idol, more then ever, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are in the media. Never before have Mormon beliefs been so hotly debated, analyzed, and widely discussed both by members of the church, and those viewing the Church from outside our unique Mormon culture. For better or worse, the Church is under a microscope.
Join us as we take a look at how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints responds to growing media interest, and how it uses technology to deliver its message. Along the way, we discuss whether media coverage of the Church and Latter-day Saints beliefs is fair and balanced, whether or not America is ready for it’s first Mormon American Idol, and Elder M. Russell Ballard’s call to join the conversation about the Church, using ‘new media’ like weblogs and podcasts. And oh yes, don’t forget about Brother Sean’s LDS Joke of the Day™.

Have you ever considered the difference between Mormon doctrine, and the policies that govern members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? In this episode, your hosts attempt to sort out what constitutes Mormon doctrine, and what practices seem to be based on policy alone.
On what doctrinal basis was the priesthood denied to some members? Do the monthly church publications The Ensign, or The Liahona constitute modern day scripture? Are some church policies not known by the general church membership?
Join us as we fire up the collective brain power of the brethren and attempt to form an opinion and answer questions about these important matters. And remember, if you hear it on this show, it’s Mormon doctrine according to the Potluck Dudes!

Not sure who’s in charge? Neither are we, so we thought we should find out.
In this episode we explore the succession of the President of the Church, analyzing the church’s policy and scriptural references. Join us as we explore the highest levels of church government including offices you have heard of, like the First Presidency, and maybe a few you haven’t (Common Council of the Church anyone?).
Listen as the Potluck Dudes are rebuked, and repent of their sins. Find out how you can locate ‘missing money’, and don’t miss Brother Sean’s LDS Joke of the Day™.

One word: politics. Yes, we went there. You knew it was coming and this is an episode that’s sure to have something for everyone. Even the communists! (Ah, but we all can’t be like Brother Mitch)
So, if you want to hear us talk about things we probably don’t have any clue about, you’ve once again come to the right place. From Joseph Smith’s bid at the presidency to Mitt’s current campaign, we try to capture a small part of the Church’s association with politics. (or not?)

We’re back in the saddle again, but we apparently didn’t cinch the saddle on because we promptly fell off!
Episode 19 is our attempt at exploration of the frontier … Utah. We talk about mountains (they have lots of them there), discuss going to General Conference, the degrees of separation between every Church member and a relative in Utah, and various other “life-altering” thoughts.
So, enjoy. And send us your feedback when you get a chance!
P.S.: Brother Sean doesn’t know how to tell jokes. You’ll find out why.

And. . .we’re back. Sort of. Well, that is to say, we are all present, but are we really here!?
The topic at hand: parenting. At least, when we finally get to the topic of the hour. There is some other, how shall we say it, “filler”, that goes on. So tune it, grab your dish, and maybe bring a snack this time

And then there was one more. Ahem! So we finally made it back. My (Mitchell) apologies to our listeners. You can find out more about the tragic cable incidence of Thanksgiving weekend by listening to episode 16. You shan’t be disappointed.
Show notes? Uh… yeah… You’ll have to bear with us on this one. Not that there isn’t anything notable. On the contrary. Too much to note
Enjoy and don’t forget to invite a friend to the potluck!

Question: if you play and win the lottery, do you tithe those earnings? Will the LDS church accept that donation? Is it a sin to play?
Answer: It doesn’t matter unless you’ve won. In which case, you should contact us directly as we can help you with your donating needs.
In this episode we have a good discussion about gambling, games of chance, and underwear. Don’t ask about the latter, I’m just the messenger

Smart? Us? Duh… I dunno.
In this episode we take a peek at the “intellectual” Mormon and his literature: Sunstone Magazine. That’s right! We brave the waters just enough to get our feet wet (or is that from walking on top of it?) and raise more questions than answers. In our usual fashion we jump in, semi-informed, half thought out, and totally uncensored.
Sunstoners beware! We have the truth and we’re not afraid to hide it
