Nope…that wasn’t a typo. We have two official winners of contest #2. They are… drum roll please… Mike from West Jordan, UT and John from Tempe, AZ! Mike and John correctly guessed within mere minutes of each other (according to their phone messages) the answer to contest #2. David Neeleman was the famous Mormon referenced by the following two clues:
In recognition of their astute knowledge of famous Mormons, they will each win an autographed copy of Clayton Pixton’s new CD, Hymns Anew. Enjoy!

As we mark the 30th anniversary of the June 1978 revelation extending the priesthood to all worthy members, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints releases the video, “He Inviteth Us All”.
The video features testimonies from several African-American church members including Darius Gray, one of the founding members of the Genesis Group, an auxiliary unit of the church established in 1971. Gray served as President of the group from 1997 until 2003.
Our first “Guess the Mormon” winner is… drum roll please… Richard Burrows from Saratoga Springs, Utah! Richard correctly guessed Spencer W. Kimball was the famous Mormon referenced by the following three clues:
In recognition of his astute knowledge of famous Mormons, Richard wins an autographed copy of Clayton Pixton’s new CD, Hymns Anew. Enjoy!

From the Church Newsroom:
The Church president died at his apartment in downtown Salt Lake City at 7:00 p.m. Sunday [January 27] night from causes incident to age. Members of his family were at his bedside.
Goodbye President Hinckley. Your example, wisdom, and wit will be missed.
We’ve had some lingering technical difficulties, but they have been fixed. Brother Mitchell had to get some special parts for the microphones (I’m clueless about all that stuff, of course) so we should be good to go when we record this week.
So please bear with us just a little bit longer and we promise a great episode.
BTW, if you’re wondering what the topic is for the next episode … it’s us. That’s right, you’ll have the honor of hearing us talk about who we are—the obligatory biography episode.
Thanks for sticking with us through this intermission!
Brother Sean

GrandCentral is a really cool service that The Brethren have just discovered. To find out how you can get your very own GC number, listen to the podcast.

Steven writes,
Love the podcast….but when is the next one coming out???
Well Steven, we’re glad you asked. You may all think we fell off the globe, but the truth is we simply needed a short hiatus. One of the brethren moved, a couple of others have been traveling, and me, well been busy with other things. We are ironing out some technical issues so Brother Sean can join us from his new locale, and are feverishly working on our “Mormon Urban Legends” episode.
So stay tuned, we’ll be right back!
Was Steve Young counseled by the First Presidency to play football instead of serving a mission? Is Brigham Young’s hearse sitting in front of the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland. Was Steve Martin really seen wearing a CTR ring in an interview, and was he secretly baptized a member of the Mormon church? Is Sasquatch really Adam’s son Cain?
These are just a few of the many Mormon urban legends that we hear from time to time. Are any of them true? Where do they originate? Inquiring minds want to know!
Send us your favorite Mormon myth or urban legend and we will attempt to verify or debunk it on an upcoming episode.
The Myth Busters at Mormon Potluck are on the case!
We’ve been working hard (as hard as we can work and still be employed by our real jobs) to get content ready for the next show. It should be a lot of fun and a lot more structured.
So far we’ve had almost 30 downloads of the show! We hope everyone has enjoyed the “meal” thus far.
Our next serving will have more “meat” and maybe even some dessert. Prepare to be surprised.
So, stay tuned! The Mormon Potluck continues …
