I have never tried Altoids. I guess it’s because the name sounds like a suppository.

    Callings – inspiration or desperation?

Our ward seems to keep calling the same little clique of people over and over. Like the old saying – it’s who you know.

  2. Mike Kingsley Says:

As far as the meetings discussion goes, I do think that leaders should do all they can to keep these things short and small in number. It’s not too bad in our ward. We have ward council once a month. I seem to remember a ward on my mission having ward council every week or every other week.

With callings it seems to me like it’s not always an inspiration thing from the person who thought up the name. I mean of course it is some of the time. I had grown up with the belief that you should always accept callings also. So the calling you receive is more for you and you could probably grow and learn no matter what it is or who gave it. Of course I have also heard that it is OK to turn down a calling if you really cannot do it. This should probably be used in more of a rare instance though. Our bishop has always been good with asking people how they are doing in their calling and even for those in it for awhile if they are still OK. We have felt comfortable with being able to tell someone if we needed to be released. We were recently in Nursery for over a year and needed to get out. It was pretty much about right when we were going to bring it up that he mentioned that we probably were ready to have a change so it worked out well. Although you have to think…I wonder how the bishop is doing?! :)

I think altoids are a little too strong for my taste. I’m just good with a little tic tac’s The Lemon Lime mint ones are good. Or some gum. Mints are nice, but gum can actually clean your teeth a little bit.

Have you guys ever tried the mint water that used to be just in Wild Oats/Whole Foods but now is coming into regular stores also? It’s actually kind of interesting. Pretty refreshing if it’s really cold.

Or another good drink is an Apple Mint Spritzer.

  4. john Says:

Callings are always a blessing. Anything that causes one to think of others first is a good thing. Some callings are a pain but callings give us an opportunity to learn something new.
